The Founders’ Mail Club
Building something can be surprisingly lonely. The beginning often comes with excitement, and the success stories are easy to find. What people talk about less is everything in between: the unfinished work, the unclear decisions, the quiet doubts and the days when you are not sure whether any of it is moving in the right direction.
heyfellowfounder calls this the ‘messy middle’. It is not a stage to rush through or hide. It is where most of the real work happens. Instead of adding more advice about how to move faster, the project tries to offer something simpler: a little company while you are still figuring things out.
The Founders’ Mail Club turns that idea into a monthly physical ritual. Each edition arrives through the post with a letter at its centre, together with illustrated postcards, Founder Totem cards and small tactile pieces made to be held, opened and kept. The experience is intentionally slow. Opening an envelope, unfolding paper and leaving a card on your desk all become small ways to pause.
The brand is also intentionally faceless. Letters are signed simply as ‘J, your fellow founder’, rather than built around a public founder personality. The words, objects and characters carry the story instead. That leaves more room for the reader to see their own experience in what they receive.
At the heart of the character world is 黑黑, the Dark Horse. He is not standing at the finish line telling everyone to run faster. He is tired too, still figuring things out, and walking through the same messy middle. He represents the small, quiet kind of progress that rarely gets celebrated but still matters.

The world
The world of heyfellowfounder grows out of the emotional reality of the messy middle. 黑黑, the Dark Horse, sits at its centre as a quiet companion for people who are still building, doubting and carrying on. Letters, stamps, envelopes, Founder Totems and other tactile objects belong to the same world, turning feelings such as uncertainty, loneliness, resilience and small wins into things that can be held and kept. More characters can gradually represent different parts of founder life, but the purpose stays simple: to make the invisible side of building something feel a little more seen and a little less lonely.
Why we work together
We like that heyfellowfounder starts with a human feeling rather than a product category. The characters, letters and physical objects all exist to express something many founders experience but rarely say out loud.
Its physical approach to storytelling also fits naturally with how Glowing Star thinks about creative work. A character, postcard or small interaction can communicate an idea before anyone needs a long explanation.
Our project-based collaboration is about helping this world meet people in more physical settings, especially exhibitions and interactive experiences, while keeping its quiet, personal and deliberately unpolished character intact.
